I got the idea for this project during my last week in Montréal. As a way to remember all the amazing people I met on exchange I asked everyone I could to write a note in the back of my journal. They could write absolutely whatever and however much they wanted, and I promised not to read it until I got back to Australia. I decided to continue this project with all the travelers I met and had adventures with as I made my way through Europe.
I expected mere sentences and single paragraphs, but instead I received entire pages, even from people I knew for only 24 hours. What was just going to be a simple project turned my journal into a book full of memories, and not just mine. I loved reading all the messages everyone had written, some were moving, some were sweet, some were hilarious and some may have made me tear up (just a little bit). So many moments over the last 8 months came flooding back to me and it inspires me to travel many more times in the future.
One of the best parts of exchange, travelling and life in general are the people you meet along the way, and reading through these messages reminds me how many incredible people are out there on this amazing planet we live on. I’m going to try and meet as many as I can. Until next time.
